Confluence Delivers Down Under

Tuesday, 27 July 2010

An internationally experienced team has returned to Australia to open Confluence operations in the heart of Sydney. This marks the 10th office for Confluence worldwide.

Australia is by no means new to our employees in the Sydney office, with many of them relocating home from Confluence assignments abroad to establish the Australian operation.  The opportunity to work abroad and hone their skills internationally on Confluence projects in distant locations such as the Middle East, Europe and Asia, sees our returning Australian expatriates and their families comfortable yet energised now back on home turf.

Since December 2009, the Confluence team in Australia has been actively engaged with major clients on some notable projects, including:

  • Major Australian Bank

Confluence is managing the design and construction of the Bank’s new pilot retail branch. The project is part of the bank’s marketing strategy for a new design standard with intention to roll-out the new design to more than 600 of its retail branches across Australia.

Works on the project included design management, project implementation and construction phase management.  As part of the role, Confluence was also involved in the migration of various other offices including a Training Centre.

The new concept retail branch celebrated a soft opening on in May 2010 and it’s successful unveiling has led to Confluence securing works for nine further pilot branches and two corporate sites in locations spread across Australia.

  • Skin & Cancer Foundation Australia

With a very competitive bid process involving a number of Australian firms, Confluence has very recently been successfully appointed to manage the full refurbishment of the not-for-profit foundation’s new premises on Crown Street, Darlinghurst.  The new centre will incorporate state-of-the-art clinic, laboratory and day procedure theatre facilities, as well as retail and commercial space and car parking.

With a consultant team procured by Confluence, the concept design continues under project manager Jeremy Palmer.

  • Souvenir World Group, Adventure Australia, Flagship Store, Sydney International Airport

Confluence was engaged to manage the design and construction of the flagship store, Adventure Australia at Sydney International Airport.  The project involved extensive stakeholder management of Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (SACL) and was successfully completed and operational within exceptionally tight budget and time constraints.

The success of this project led to an extension of Confluence’s role in managing the subsequent rollout of six Souvenir World retail outlets and Confluence is also in discussion with the Client on works including the upcoming retail store in Melbourne Airport International Terminal 1, and upgrade works of several existing Souvenir World retail outlets in New South Wales.

Guy Scott, Managing Director, summed up Confluence’s position “We are very excited to be returning to the Australian market. Opening our Australian office provides a path for our team to come home and continue to do great things with Confluence.”
