Bar Bouloud, London, UK

Project Overview:

Description: Strip-out of offices and stores at lower ground floor level and fit-out of a new restaurant, including show kitchen, bar, restaurant, and a new charcuterie kitchen at basement level. Wine barrels were inspiration behind the vintage oak floors and wainscoting.

Situation/Challenges:

The principle challenge on this particular project was the incredibly low floor to ceiling height. All services and ceiling fixings had to be meticulously arranged to maximize the ceiling height at all costs. At mid-point through the project the contractor raised all cable trays to gain an additional 3mm.

Outcome/Results:

The restaurant opened on the 6th May 2010 and has been an amazing success to both Daniel Boulud and the Mandarin Oriental. The restaurant has outstripped all forecasted returns and continues to never cease to be fully occupied. Located at street level with its own entrance directly onto Knightsbridge, the restaurant seats 165. The bar lounge features architectural vaulted ceilings paired with classic materials such as wood, leather, cork and zinc.
