Yas Island Hotel

Project Overview:

Another iconic project for Confluence and the project was a standout highlight for the inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2009. The shape of the hotel, its size and location, along with its stunning grid shell façade make it a center point for the race.

Situation/Challenges:

It is impossible to fully describe the passion and effort that is required to design and build an iconic structure in eight months. The Confluence team achieved this miraculous result with the hotel opening its doors to the public late September 2009.

Outcome/Results:

Towers A and B are two 5-star hotels covered with a glazed cloak (grid shell), housing 499 bedrooms from standard rooms to Presidential suites. The hotels include leisure and restaurant facilities with a Michelin starred restaurant being constructed within Tower B.

Main reception facilities and main back-of-house facilities are being constructed within Tower A. Both Towers are connected with a link bridge at level 1 with executive lounge facilities being constructed within the bridge deck.

Facilities within the bedrooms are state-of-the-art electronics ranging from Bose music systems to large plasma screen televisions.

All bedrooms have state-of-the-art bathroom facilities all with wet room designs.

Tower B has an outlook onto a newly constructed Marina, both Towers are being constructed over and around the new Formula 1 race track for Abu Dhabi.
