Australian High Commission, New Delhi

Project Overview:

Confluence provided project management and construction management services, managing all works and interfaces in delivering the Australian Government’s new Chancery in New Delhi.

Situation/Challenges:

The major component of this project was the delivery of a new Permanent Chancery building for the Australian High Commission, and was extended to include the staged delivery of an Interim Chancery for the occupying agencies, temporary recreational facilities, three units of residential accommodation, five new guardhouses and perimeter security walling and sundry works.

Outcome/Results:

The project involved significant scope changes as the project responded to increasing headcount resulting in the facility moving from a new site back to the existing compound. This change necessitated construction of an interim facility. The project also required a significant structural hardening upgrade following the bombing of the Australian Embassy in Jakarta. The security upgrade changes occurred after the structure was underway and required innovative and flexible solutions.

The success of this project led to further appointments in Singapore, Cambodia and Malaysia with the client.
